My photographs rarely stay in their original form. Perhaps it is due to my training as a painter that I feel a strong need to exaggerate the light and dark, heighten the mood with colour and crop the image to focus the eye. The camera is a great tool and I try and use its capability to capture what I cannot see, such as by using a slow shutter speed and getting that blur from a figure, depicting both the energy and the actual passing of time in a single shot.

I love the old school darkroom and experimenting with photograms and toners when I get the chance. I also appreciate the facility of Photoshop to add another layer and sometimes by using the unexpected, to add to the mystery or the story told, bringing in a kind of narrative within my work.
