My main inspiration is drawn from what I observe and I am particularly fascinated by the distortion of reflections, whether it be it through water or glass.

I am mesmerised by the constant flux of reflections and how they distort the human figure in a pool. My current work includes paintings of children in a swimming lesson and seeks to project that vital bond and trust between instructor and child as they learn to swim.

The reflection through windows also beguiles me and I strive to capture the delicate layers of space both within, for example, a bar or café and also the space that at the same time lies behind me.  Whatever my subject matter, it is the portrayal of the stronger qualities of light and the darker shadows it produces and this chiaroscuro effect adds drama and tension to my work.
