My images begin as either a drawing from life or from my own photographs. I like adapting these, using a variety of media, including print techniques such as monoprinting, lino printing and etching.

I love the spontaneity and the fluidity that a mono print can have. There is also something very rewarding in nurturing a print from a clean piece of metal into a worn and weathered etching or drypoint. The end print reflects the whole journey and all of the energy I have given the plate. When I create limited edition prints, I much prefer to keep the edition small and exclusive. The endless possible colour variations of a print allow me to experiment and so most of my prints normally end up as “one offs”, an original, an “Artists’ proof”.
